One day, my beloved and I decided to visit a church in Germany.
Not by accident — it was their anniversary, and this was a charismatic church.
From the very first steps, you could feel the living God at work.
In the Netherlands, we had rarely encountered such places — usually, churches are full of rituals without the tangible presence of God.

Germany was different. We felt at home.
We experienced the real presence of the Living God and the touch of the Holy Spirit.
Just like the Spirit came upon the disciples:

“When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit.” — Acts 2:1-4

During the 400 km drive home, a question arose in my beloved’s heart, one that weighed on her the entire journey:
"Are we walking the right path? Is what we do, and how we share the Gospel and God’s love, truly real?"

The answer didn’t take long. In the middle of the night, when we were already asleep, the smoke detector went off.
Nothing was burning, yet it was a sign that God is awake and calling us, as the Scripture reminds us:

“Wake up, O sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.” — Ephesians 5:14

I jumped out of bed, not knowing what was happening, and my beloved thought it was the phone. We were both a little scared, but once we understood what happened, I ran and turned off the alarm.

At that moment, my beloved felt the embrace of the Holy Spirit and heard these words:

“I am here. You are walking the right path and doing the right works. Keep going and don’t stop.”

Here was something extraordinary: most people say, “Lord, come, come!” and wait for some event or miracle. But in this moment, the Lord said: “I am here.”
He opened the doors and now wants us to step out and enter His throne — into His full life and His will for us.

As the Bible says:

“Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” — Matthew 5:16

It was a clear sign that God and the Holy Spirit are with us, and our actions are right.
Churches where the Spirit is alive are a sign of God’s presence for everyone, regardless of circumstances.

This story reminds us that God is active today and calls us to continue walking in His way.
If you want to experience this touch of the living God, ask yourself: do you want to invite Jesus into your heart, so His love can surround you and guide you in every step?

God’s work is not limited to a church building — He lives in your life, every step of the way, if only you open your heart.
